Takeoff Migos shot and killed at age 28

According to Rolling Stone and TMZ, Takeoff, a rapper with the well-known Atlanta hip-hop group Migos, was shot and died early on Tuesday (November 1) in Houston. According to TMZ and local media, he and Quavo were playing dice in a bowling alley when an altercation started and a guy started shooting. It was 28 years old during takeoff. Born Kirsnick Khari Ball, Takeoff grew up in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, with Quavo and Offset. In 2008, they started a rap trio and got support from people in the city, including Gucci Mane. His support helped the group, later known as Migos, rise as its tracks and mixtapes acquired popularity in the early 2010s.

With "Versace," which typified the triplet-heavy "Migos flow," they made their debut in 2013. A Drake remix helped the song gain more recognition abroad. They signed with new Atlanta label Quality Control the same year. The label and Migos came to represent a fresh generation of Atlanta rap. The landmark 2017 album Culture and the group's formal debut album, 2015's Yung Rich Nation, were both published in conjunction by Quality Control. The group Migos received two Grammy nominations that year, including Best Rap Album, and won the BET Award for Best Group. Culture II and Culture III came after in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

In 2020, a woman accused Takeoff of sexual assault, claiming that he had sexually assaulted her at a house party. Due to a lack of supporting evidence, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office decided not to file a criminal complaint the following year. The civil case was set to begin in 2023.
