Bayelsa girl leaves Kano to reunite with her parents



Ese Oruru, the teenager who was abducted from her home in Bayelsa and moved to Kano six months ago for a forced marriage has left Kano for Abuja where she is expected to be reunited with her parents.

Asaph Mic citing Rabilu Ringim, the spokesman of the zone 1 police command reports that Miss Oruru in the company of police officers left Kano for police headquarters in Abuja by road at 6am on Tuesday, March 1. “They are on their way already, and the parents are expected in Abuja today where they would be reunited,” Ringim said. “She is being taken to Abuja based on the express instruction of the IG.” According to Rabilu Ringim, the team conveying Miss Oruru comprised of an assistant commissioner of police and other top ranking officers who were travelling under tight security. Outrage has greeted the case of Ese who was abducted on August 12, 2015, converted to Islam and forcefully married by Yinusa, in Kano which prompted the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II to order the immediate release of the 14-year-old teenager. The Emir also asked the state sharia commission to liaise with office of the assistant inspector general (AIG) of police, zone 1 to commence the process of returning girl who was abducted by Yunusa of Kura local government area of Kano state. She was released to the police and taken for thorough medical check late Monday, February 29, night to enable her to commence her journey back home early on Tuesday morning.
