The name, Even3, came together as we wanted to bring together 3 connected but also somewhat disjointed factors together. These being socialization, event creation and marketplace which are all connected by the factor of location. In a sense we see these three things as 3 stands to a stool which help to keep a balance hence the “even”. Merging this together brought us the oxymoron that is Even3.

A Nigerian Wedding Featured on Bella Naija

When it came to the initial target market, we as a team decided on the country of Nigeria — the most populous country in the continent of Africa. As Nigerians ourselves, we wanted to make something for Nigerians, created by Nigerians. With the likes of PayPal and Amazon having only recently launched in the country, we had noticed that Africa in general is often excluded when it comes to many technological advancements that are happening around the world. This further fueled our decision that Nigeria is the perfect place for our launch.

There are many service providers out there without an online presence, which definitely limits their reach. We wanted to create a level playing field for all vendors in Nigeria.

Therefore, enabling everyone to be able to showcase their talents and skills via the same platform. Not only do we feel that the vendors will be able to benefit positively from this app, we also believe that the users — our future event planners will also be able to take a lot from the experience of using our app. In doing this, we found ourselves to have differentiated from an event planning app like Eventbrite or the events page feature on Facebook.

Whenever the word “Nigeria” is mentioned, the first thing that comes to our minds are the numerous events that we have personally experienced and are known for. The compulsory buffet stands of jollof rice, fried rice, assorted meat and plantain. The cold bottles of malt that stand on the tables awaiting its opening.

The laughter and the unison that can be felt throughout the room as everyone makes their way to the dance floor to komole to afrobeats that will most certainly be playing in the background.

The intense feeling of joy and love that can always be felt within the room. All the things that have to come together to create these feelings, this is what we aim to provide through this app.
