Giroud’s Late Goal Earns Arsenal Fortuitous Draw

Despite the Build-up to what was expected to be a thrilling end to end affair, what was put on show as Arsenal visited old Trafford was at best insipid.
United, with two wins in their last eight games, had most of the pressure on them and desperately needed the three points. They drew their encouragement from the fact that Wenger has never won a competitive encounter against Mourinho.

United started the brighter of both teams and had two clear cut chances to score in a first half in which the Gunners did not manage a shot on target. There was a penalty call which Mourinho and his team felt they deserved but replays show the referee was probably right not to call it.
The match always threatened to end in a goalless draw but United opened the scoring through Juan Mata thanks to an assist from fellow Spaniard, Ander Herrera. Mourinho threw on Schneirdeelin in an attempt to secure all three points but luck was not in their favor.
