When Theresa Roemer first showed off her bananas three-story, 3,000-square-foot closet on Good Morning America in 2014, she said she’d be holding events and fundraisers inside the $500,000 space. But Roemer hosted an event of a different sort when Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane rented out her house in early December for a video shoot.

The result, “Nonchalant,” dropped right after Christmas, and it’s a perfect example of how loving lots of expensive stuff can build bridges between the disparate worlds of a Houston socialite/entrepreneur/reality television star and a rapper six months out of a three-year stint in prison for gun and drug charges. Let’s pause and reflect on how beautiful it is that ostentatious odes to wealth can cross all of our cultural divides and bring (rich) people together.
The video features Gucci Mane cavorting around the closet and the rest of the Woodlands mansion alongside over two dozen models who dance, twerk, serve and even strip on a pole installed in a bedroom for the shoot, plus a guest appearance by Young Thug. According to CultureMap, Gucci Mane’s label, Atlantic Records, secured a $2 million insurance policy for the shoot.
“I’ve been involved with five to six reality shows in the past five years, but it’s the first time I’ve ever been involved in a music video,” Roemer, who was present for the 13-hour shoot, told the site. “All I can say is, ‘Wow!’”
This may be one of the last big events that Roemer hosts at her infamous home—the mansion has been on the market for two years, with the price dropping several times from a high of $12.9 million to the current asking price of $7.95 million, with it set for auction in spring 2017.
