Biafra Supporters Protest In Port Harcourt

They marched from Aba, Oyigbo axis of the state, heading to Government House and crippling economic and social activities in the Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway and the East/West road.
The military, police trucks numbering over 40 and armoured tanks have been mobilized to the busy Eleme junction to block the movement of the protesters to Government House, where they insist on seeing Governor Nyesom Wike.

This early morning protest disrupted movement of people who have business and social activities, causing traffic gridlock and around Aba-Oyigbo and the East-West roads, Eleme-Onne axis that is host to two major Port Harcourt refineries and Onne Ports, Oil and Gas Free Zone that has over 100 companies located in it.
Soldiers and police stationed at First Artillery at Okporo road have started firing both teargas and live bullets to scare the overwhelming protesters, making people run helter-skelter. There is confusion everywhere with teargas canisters and guns fired to scare the people.
Michael Amaehule, an eyewitness said: “Thousands of protesters coming from Aba, Abia state dared the security men surging towards them in spite of armoured tanks. The situation is chaotic. Please nobody should dare come near Aba Port Harcourt/Expressway or Okporo road. From where I am hiding to avoid stray bullets from obviously infuriated security men.”
Another Eyewitness said: “I talk to you now, the protesters are daring the security men. The protesters should go to their states in Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states and stop disturbing the peace of Port Harcourt. If they protesting about the arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra, they should go and protest in Abuja not Port Harcourt.”
Also speaking, one Clinton Samuel said: “The pro-Biafra protesters have right to protest but we, Rivers people who don’t support Biafra should be allowed to go to our various business place.”
The pro-Biafra youths had on Tuesday, October 20, protested in the streets of Port Harcourt and 20 youths who allegedly tore Nigerian flags were arrested and charged with treasonable felony offences.
